Four Months and a Giveaway

Today marks four months since we walked out of the orphanage after our last visit with Baby O. That morning, we played with him and snuggled as much as we could. We spoke with the physical therapist and doctor. The doctor even teared up as she told us that Baby O's home country could not provide a life for him, and that laying in a crib on the second floor of an orphanage was no life for him, either. We nodded in agreement, unable to put our sentiments into words.

After the physical therapist demonstrated her exercises with him, we then carried him up the stairs and fed him lunch. We knew what would happen next, but nothing prepared us to have to say goodbye. This was compounded by not knowing when we would be able to return. There was also no way to explain to him that this was good-bye, just for now. I know he didn't know exactly why we were there. We were people who had been coming in to play, but I couldn't help but wonder if he was beginning to expect us. What would happen that afternoon when he woke up from his nap? Would he wonder if we were coming to play? How long would it take him to forget us?

As soon as we got back to the United States, we scrambled to complete his immigration papers. There were a few more steps in the process to complete in his country, and then we would be submitted to court. We finished May, passed through June, and then on July 20, we found out that court in his country would shut down through September 15. So, patiently we waited. He is waiting, even though he probably has no idea what he is waiting for. And yesterday, court reopened in his country. We are now officially waiting for a court date that will declare him our son.

So, here's the fun part. I know, I tortured you with the sad stuff before getting to the good stuff. In all fairness, I wanted you to know the sad stuff so that the happy would seem even sweeter. We are *this* close to being able to go get Baby O. See, happy? Friends, family, and even strangers have been generous in helping fund this crazy process. Even happier. We have one last fundraising opportunity. A few months ago, The Daddy Guy was given a brand-new iPad Mini when he completed a training. We have decided to give away this iPad Mini to help pay for our second trip to bring Baby O home.

Chances to win this Mini start at $10. A ten dollar donation will buy you one chance to win the Mini. However, a $50 donation will buy six chances. A $100 donation will buy FIFTEEN chances.

How do you enter? Well, there are several ways. Click on our Reece's Rainbow link (there is also a linky in the sidebar with Baby O's sweet little picture) and then choose the "Donate" button, and donate by Paypal or credit card. Once you receive your e-mail receipt from Reece's Rainbow, please forward that e-mail to us at lightsburninglate@gmail.com with your name, e-mail, and address.

If you prefer to donate using cash or check, you can make the check out to Reece's Rainbow, put our name in the memo line, and then give the check to us. Please do not mail the check directly to Reece's Rainbow. The check may not process before our giveaway is over, and then we would have no way to know that you entered. By giving us the check, we can tally your entries and then we'll send your donation to Reece's Rainbow so that it will be tax-deductible.

So, two ways to enter:
1) Click on our RR link, donate, and then e-mail us the receipt so we can count your entries..
OR
2) Give cash or a check (made out to Reece's Rainbow with our name in the memo line) and send it our way so we can count your entries.

Our iPad Mini giveaway ends Friday, October 4th.
We will draw a name on Saturday, October 5th.

As always, thank you so much for  your love and support. We can not wait to bring our son home and introduce him to tall of the people who helped get him here.
