FUNdraising, Served Three Ways

Back in the fall, I wrote a post about the monetary costs of adoption. The Daddy Guy and I have been very blessed throughout this process by the generosity of friends, acquaintances, and even strangers. This week, we are being triply blessed by three different fundraisers, each contributing money to bringing our son home.

First, my sweet friends Stephanie and Jennifer have combined their efforts to host a fundraiser through Thirty-One Gifts. Secondly, my friend, Cheryl, gathered up a bunch of ladies from our church family, and together they created a Summer Fun Bundle to raffle off as a fundraiser. Five dollars will buy a ticket to try to win a prize package that includes thirty-one different donations. If you're local and win the package, it includes ONE FREE HOUSE CLEANING from one very generous friend. Last, but certainly not least, this fundraiser came from the generosity of complete strangers, coupled with a conversation with an old high school friend. Yes, from a person who I haven't seen, except for one brief encounter, in almost twenty years. From my understanding, a few years ago, a group of families came together, creating A Sea of Hope, to aid families in the adoption process. One of the events that they hold is a quarter auction, where food is served and donations are auctioned in a fun environment. My high school friend, Wendy, actually mentioned these auctions to me several months ago, but I was so intimidated by all of the details that I never applied for us to benefit from one.

 

The week after we came home from Eastern Europe, I got a phone call from one of the ladies with A Sea of Hope. ASOH is sponsoring a quarter auction, hosted by a church in our area. This church is excited to host the event, but ASOH was looking for an adopting family to share the proceeds of the quarter auction. It was short notice, but the location, the food, and half of the items to be raffled were already procured. Were we interested? After a couple days of prayer and discussion, The Daddy Guy and I decided that this would be a great opportunity for a fundraiser and to talk about orphans with special needs. So, we're partnering with A Sea of Hope and Holland's UMC in Raleigh to hold a quarter auction on Friday, June 21! Food will begin to be served at 5:00 and the auction will start at 6:00. In the meantime, The Daddy Guy and I are going to be scouring the area for gift cards and items to be auctioned. If you have anything you'd like to contribute, please let us know!

 

We are so grateful to everyone who has contributed to our son's adoption. This whole experience has been so humbling and encouraging at the same time. We know that each person who has played a role in helping has come to us through God's hand and we are so thankful.
